June 16, 2010

Last Friday (June 11), our 2010 Ghana Media Interns left Canada to start an unforgettable adventure in Kumasi, Ghana. In partnership with the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), jhr’s interns will be spending three months working at Kapital Radio to produce news stories and assist with programming, editing, and advertising in cooperation with African students.

Ashley, Kallee, and Laura will produce a vast array of media related to the Millenium Development Goals, CIDA’s work in Ghana, and Canadian development efforts. From blog posts to documentaries, from articles to photographs, our interns will use the broad spectrum of media available to us today to report on their experiences in Ghana.

Speak Magazine is looking for article pitches!

April 19, 2010

jhr’s annual Speak magazine is looking for article pitches! The theme of Speak this year is “Human Rights in New Media”. All story pitches related to rights in new media will be considered.

As a pitch, we would like a brief (half page) outline of the article you would like to write and the story you want to tell. Please include the people you plan to interview and their contact information if possible. If you’ve already written something that would be suitable for Speak, please don’t hesitate to send it our way. This is a great opportunity for chapter members to have their work published in a widely read and well established magazine. Don’t miss out! All pitches, stories or questions about Speak can be sent to davidkumagai@gmail.com.

Check out last year’s edition of SPEAK magazine here.
